About Amathea

Amathea was established in 2003 and is the only nationwide health service that offers follow-up before and after an abortion. We receive public funding through the grant scheme “Foundation Amathea” from the state budget, with the Norwegian Directorate of Health as the administrator.

We are part of a “Shared Model” that ensures comprehensive and equal services to those who are or were pregnant and their partners. On a daily basis, we work closely with municipal health services, GPs and hospitals, and we supplement the healthcare system with our expertise and nationwide function.

Those who work with us all have healthcare and/or social welfare educations as nurses, social workers, midwives, health nurses, child protection and welfare educators, and sociologists, with various types of continuing education.

We have ten offices throughout Norway. All of our services are free of charge, and you can reach us by chat, telephone, video calls, and by visiting one of our offices.
