Cobber IUD
The copper IUD is made of plastic surrounded by a thin layer of copper. It is approx. 3 cm long and you won’t notice it once it has been inserted in the uterus. The two threads of the IUD come out through the cervix. You can feel these threads by placing a finger deep into the vagina. They are there to indicate that the IUD is in place, and to make it easier to remove it later. The copper IUD prevents the sperm cells from being able to fertilise an egg.
Bleeding when using the copper IUD
The copper IUD contains no hormones, so you will still have a menstruation cycle.
