Pregnancy
Signs of pregnancy may vary. In many cases, the first indication is that your menstrual period is late (about five weeks from the last period). It is recommended that you take a pregnancy test three weeks after any sexual intercourse that may have resulted in pregnancy.
In Norway, everyone has the right to free antenatal care from a midwife and/or GP. You can contact your local health clinic (helsestasjon) or family doctor (GP) to schedule an appointment. They will help you. You decide who you want to contact. You will be offered appointments throughout your pregnancy, in addition to prenatal diagnostics and an ultrasound. The appointments will be scheduled with your GP or midwife, based on your needs. A midwife will visit you after the birth, and you and your child will then be followed up by a public health nurse.
